Welcome 🌿
It's lovely to connect with you.
The internet is many things, but one of its true gifts is how it brings together people who might never have found each other in their local library or coffee shop.
I’m Helen.
For those who don’t know - a little about me…
I’m Helen. I'm in my 40s, a proud Northerner, and an experienced counsellor working with young people and adults, especially those navigating life’s messier transitions. I also work as a supervisor, supporting fellow counsellors and professionals in the wellbeing world.
Recently, I stepped into a long-held dream of mine: writing. I’ve published A Practical Guide for Working Therapeutically with Teenagers and Young Adults with PCCS Books, and I now write regularly here on Substack about therapy, life with young people, and the quiet complexities of being human. I’m also discovering Sophie’s story in my first fiction novel, which brings me equal parts delight and terror.
I'm a cheap date, loving the simple things in life; reading, toasted teacakes, a good (decaf) coffee and people watching. I'm on an endless quest to manage my limited energy levels (chronic illness) alongside my unlimited ideas, aspirations and motivation. I've an unrealistic goal of a productive, beautiful, slow life. I'm learning (daily) how to pace myself while staying curious and creative.
